High-Specification Temporary Construction Plan Implemented at Lufeng Nuclear Power Plant to Support “Hualong One” Construction

On the shores of Jieshi Bay in Shanwei, Guangdong, the CGN Lufeng Nuclear Power Project (planned to include six 1-million-kilowatt units) is moving full steam ahead, with construction of the main structure for Unit 1 set to officially begin in February 2025. As a special engineering project where the state maintains a “zero-tolerance” policy toward safety and quality, nuclear power plants require temporary construction camps that are not only massive in scale but must also meet stringent safety, fire prevention, and typhoon/wind resistance standards far exceeding those of conventional construction sites.
Unlike conventional commercial real estate or transportation infrastructure projects, nuclear power plant construction involves long cycles (with each unit taking several years to build) and extremely high management standards. Furthermore, the Lufeng project is located in a coastal region prone to severe typhoons, which imposes nearly “demanding” requirements on the structural wind resistance, Class A fire-retardant performance, corrosion resistance and salt spray resistance, as well as long-term living comfort of temporary construction products. Rather than simply adopting conventional temporary construction solutions, the team leveraged the company’s deep expertise in material processing and equipment manufacturing across the entire supply chain to “tailor-make” a temporary construction system for the Lufeng project that fully complies with nuclear power standards.

The entire temporary construction solution employs high-standard factory prefabrication and on-site modular assembly. The main light-gauge steel frame undergoes special reinforcement, and the enclosure materials strictly utilize Class A fire-resistant insulation cores, fully aligning with the nuclear power plant site’s closed-management protocols and stringent fire safety and hygiene inspection standards. To address the East Coast of Guangdong’s environment—characterized by frequent typhoons, high humidity, and high salt fog—corrosion-resistant coatings and roof drainage systems were optimized to ensure the temporary construction camp remains structurally sound, leak-free, and rust-free throughout the multi-year construction cycle; Additionally, considering the needs of nuclear power construction workers for long-term on-site residency, we have optimized soundproofing, thermal insulation, and sanitary drainage systems. Within a clean and uniform industrialized framework, we have balanced the comfort and privacy required for high-density living.

“Serving ‘national priorities’ such as the Lufeng Nuclear Power Project, temporary construction products must not only be ‘quick to erect’ but also ‘stable, secure, and meticulously managed.’ In nuclear power, nothing is trivial; even temporary structures must withstand the strictest scrutiny of nuclear safety culture. By combining our more than two decades of experience in temporary construction with the nuclear industry’s ethos of ‘rigor, caution, precision, and practicality,’ we translate the Group’s vision of ‘making construction simpler and industry smarter’ into every stable, safe, and high-standard temporary space.” Starting with Xinhe Hardware in the early days of metal processing and mechanical R&D, SinoWorld Building System Co., Ltd. has built a full-chain ecosystem encompassing “equipment manufacturing—material processing—temporary construction services.” By providing highly customized and fully compliant temporary construction solutions to support the Lufeng Nuclear Power Project, the company not only demonstrates its technical expertise in undertaking high-end, specialized national-level projects but also further establishes its industrial system as an irreplaceable benchmark in this specialized field.
